Solar Panel Cost in Madhya Pradesh: Real Price Breakdown (1kW-10kW)

Transparent numbers, not vague ranges — so you know what a fair quote actually looks like before you talk to an installer.

Solar pricing in India varies a lot between installers, and that variation is exactly what makes price-shopping stressful. Here's what a residential system actually costs in Madhya Pradesh, broken down by size, with the subsidy factored in.

Gross cost by system size

System sizeTypical gross cost
1 kW₹55,000 - ₹65,000*
2 kW₹95,000 - ₹1,10,000*
3 kW₹1,35,000 - ₹1,50,000
5 kW₹2,10,000 - ₹2,40,000*
10 kW₹3,90,000 - ₹4,40,000*

*The 3kW figure is our directly verified pricing. Other sizes are estimated by scaling the confirmed 3kW per-kW rate, with a modest economies-of-scale discount at larger sizes — treat these as indicative ranges, not fixed quotes. Your exact price depends on roof type, mounting structure, and wiring distance, which is why we recommend a free site survey for an exact number.

Net cost after PM Surya Ghar subsidy

System sizeSubsidyNet cost (residential only)
1 kW₹30,000₹25,000 - ₹35,000*
2 kW₹60,000₹35,000 - ₹50,000*
3 kW₹78,000₹57,000 - ₹72,000
5 kW₹78,000 (flat cap)₹1,32,000 - ₹1,62,000*
10 kW₹78,000 (flat cap)₹3,12,000 - ₹3,62,000*

The subsidy is flat at ₹78,000 for any system 3kW or larger — it does not scale up with system size. This is why, proportionally, larger systems pay back more slowly per rupee of subsidy but still generate far more monthly savings in absolute terms. Note: PM Surya Ghar is residential-only; commercial systems don't receive this subsidy at all (see our subsidy eligibility guide).

What actually drives price differences between installers

What your monthly savings actually look like

For a typical 3kW system, expect ₹3,500-₹4,500/month in electricity bill savings at MP's residential tariff of roughly ₹7.50/kWh, assuming Bhopal's ~5.2 peak sun hours/day. Combined with the subsidy, this is what typically produces a 3-4 year payback period, after which the system generates essentially free power for the remaining ~21 years of its 25-year lifespan.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a 3kW system cost?

₹1,35,000 to ₹1,50,000 gross. After the ₹78,000 PM Surya Ghar subsidy, net cost is approximately ₹57,000 to ₹72,000.

Why do quotes vary so much between installers?

Panel/inverter brand tier, what's included (equipment only vs. full installation + subsidy filing), and site-specific factors like roof type and wiring distance. Always ask for an itemized quote.

Does a bigger system cost less per kW?

Generally yes, modestly — shared installation and wiring costs create some economies of scale. A free site survey gives you an exact number for your roof.
